Sally Ride, First American Woman Sent Into Space, Dies At Age 61

Sally Ride, astronaut- physicist, first American & third woman sent into space died Monday at her home in La Jolla, Calif. Although she was married to fellow NASA astronaut Steve Hawley for four years, from 1985 until her death, Ride’s female partner was her childhood friend, Dr. Tam E. O’Shaughness, they authored 4 books together, including Exploring Our Solar System, which they did. Sally died at the age of 61, a certified wifeytype.
